Director of Development


Role Summary

Title: Development Director
Location: Remote
Availability: Full time

Reporting to: CEO/COO 
Compensation: $100K+ based on experience 

Position’s Core Function

1. Create, implement, and assess the overall development strategy to support SENT’s short- and long-term fundraising goals.
2. Work closely with the CEO to grow major gifts and expand SENT’s network of individual and major donors.
3. Strengthen and manage relationships with existing donors, ensuring ongoing engagement and stewardship.

Responsibilities 

  • Own and lead development across the organization.

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy that supports SENT’s ambitious vision and goals (development goals set prior to hire).

  • Cultivate relationships, facilitate engagement opportunities, and solicit contributions from new and existing donors, organizations, and foundations.

  • Serve as the main point of contact for donor relationships.

  • Lead donor prospecting aligned with SENT’s mission and values.

  • Drive fundraising best practices, including prospecting, donor reporting, and donor communications

  • Evaluate and grow the organization’s fundraising portfolio through strategic planning and data-informed insights.

  • Collaborate with leadership and internal teams to strengthen relationships with key members, partners, and donors.

  • Collect and develop compelling content for fundraising materials, including donor reports and grant proposals.

Desired Experience & Qualifications 

  • Proven work experience as a Major Gifts Officer, Development Director, or similar role

  • Outstanding and persuasive written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully tailor messaging for different audiences, including donors and other stakeholders

  • Experience building strong relationships with institutional and individual donors and prospects

  • Demonstrated success in securing major gifts and growing and managing a fundraising portfolio

  • High ethical standards, discretion, and confidentiality in working with donor information  

  • A passion for SENT’s mission

  • Good organizational and time management skills to help keep projects on track

  • Extremely detail-oriented, adaptive, collaborative growth mindset
