Meet John Cannon
Founder
I know what it feels like to chase success and wonder if it costs too much. My path took me from Harvard Business School, banking, and policy to a Carmelite monastery of prayer and study. Along the way, I discovered this truth: Catholic entrepreneurs are called to both excellence and faith. SENT exists so you don’t have to choose between the two. Before founding SENT, John got degrees in Finance, Political Science, and Business from Notre Dame, Oxford, and Harvard. He was an investment banker, boutique management consultant, and Policy Advisor to the Governor of Alabama.
He then became a Carmelite Brother for 7 years, where he lived a monastic life of prayer, study, service. During this time, he completed advanced degrees in Philosophy and Theology, with a particular study on the lives of founder Saints.
He eventually discerned out to found SENT and help Catholic founders and execs take their ventures and lives to the next level.
John currently serves on the SENT Board, where he supports organizational strategy and special projects while helping to build the broader Catholic entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Nick Madden is the CEO of SENT Ventures. He is a purpose-driven entrepreneur passionate about building meaningful connections.
Over the past decade, he has grown Red Door Escape Room from a single location to 20 nationwide, generating over $20MM in revenue and leading a team of 400+. Nick has coached and consulted with various businesses, developing a deep understanding and empathy for the entrepreneurial journey. His work with SENT has been a profound blessing, evolving from Fellow to Coach, and now serving as CEO under founder John Cannon’s guidance.Rooted in his Catholic faith, Nick integrates spirituality with business to help entrepreneurs thrive personally, professionally, and spiritually. A loving husband to Kaci and father of three, Nick resides in San Diego, CA, and is committed to fostering community and delivering transformative experiences.

Sam Mazzarelli is a Gospel-driven leader. Driven by the entrepreneurial spirit, he has spent his career helping men and women find effective and innovative ways to fulfill God's purpose through formation, leadership, and community. Through his various senior leadership roles and entrepreneurial endeavors, he has helped organizations scale their mission well, maintaining culture and consistency. Sam serves as Chief Community Success Officer at SENT Ventures, where he is dedicated to supporting SENT members in their entrepreneurial journey as they build their businesses, grow as disciples of Jesus, and transform culture with their unique gifts and entrepreneurial spirits.
Sam and his wife, Michelle, live in Wichita, KS, with their ten children. Sam and his family dedicate their time to helping others encounter Jesus Christ through friendship and community.

Matthew manages SENT’s systems and data-analysis. He graduated with a dual major in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Dayton, where he led multiple organizations and started a Rosary bracelet business. Following his undergraduate, he gained valuable experience in the energy industry. Matthew currently lives in Columbus, Ohio with his wife, Kelly, where they have cherished getting involved with the vibrant local Catholic community.

Jan started his career as an ER Trauma nurse at a hospital in rural Ohio while serving as an Operations and Human Resources Technical Sergeant in the Air National Guard.
After experiencing a call to entrepreneurship in 2019, Jan left the hospital and founded a marketing agency. Since then, he has empowered his staff to serve clients nationally while drastically reducing his time at the agency, assisted in guiding startups from ideation through acquisition, and developed a passion for consulting with founders focused on building community.
Today, Jan is passionately dedicated to assisting Catholic business owners and executives through the process of discerning their place within the SENT network. He wholeheartedly believes that SENT will change the world, and feels privileged to have a small part in that process.

Drawing from a diverse background in business operations, human resources and client success, John brings a hands-on approach to strengthening relationships and enhancing the member experience. His experience spans both the for-profit and nonprofit worlds, having worked in the startup space with a product-as-a-service business model, as well as serving on multiple non-profit boards, bringing a heart for mission-driven impact to every role he takes on.
When he’s not collaborating with SENT members or refining engagement strategies, you’ll find him enjoying time with his family, coaching youth sports, or organizing faith-based events that bring people together in deeper fellowship.

Mary is a dedicated event planning expert based in the DC area, where she lives with her husband, Curt, and is a proud mom to two grown sons, Patrick and Shane. With a deep commitment to her Catholic faith, Mary has built a career that seamlessly blends her professional expertise with her personal values.
She is perhaps best known for her impactful role as the Director of Events for the March for Life, where she spent over a decade organizing the world’s largest pro-life event and creating gatherings that left lasting impressions on participants.
Mary loves to travel, explore local breweries and wineries, and spend weekends boating along the Potomac River!

Her academic research focused on Catholic Church relations to educational institutions in Argentina. With diverse administrative experience across various fields, she excels at coordinating tasks and ensuring they run smoothly.
Micaela enjoys combining her love for structure and creativity, finding joy in organizing projects that bring people closer to their goals. In her free time, she relaxes by solving sudokus and sewing. She also has a passion for local history and archives.

She started her career in the corporate event world, planning conferences and meetings nationwide. After gaining valuable industry knowledge, Marisa was drawn to use her skills to support purpose driven missions and transitioned to the non-profit world. She now uses her experience to plan events that foster community, strengthen faith, and promote personal and professional growth.
