Mission Showcase
SENT
The Vision
In 2023, SENT hosted the world’s first venture pitch competition to bring together Catholic startups and investors; the event was a great success. SENT organizers saw that there was also a substantial need for such a platform for Catholic non-profit organizations.
This year, SENT has partnered with Mission Capital to produce The SENT Mission Showcase; an opportunity for five emerging ministries to present their unique missions to SENT Summit attendees.
Mission Capital is a Catholic apostolate that provides tools and resources for the New Evangelization and has produced several similar events focused specifically on evangelizing and disciple-making ministries. Together, SENT and Mission Capital sought eligible applicants with the end goal of furthering the Kingdom of God by helping these organizations scale up and connect with partners who share their vision.
The Process
The selection process was highly competitive. SENT received applications from 40+ ministries based in 23 states and 3 foreign countries.
SENT and Mission Capital reviewed each ministry’s application which included a video pitch, slide deck, financial report, and letters of endorsement.
Each ministry was scored and ranked using five criteria:
Innovative Catholic Mission: A fresh approach to evangelization and disciple-making and/or in addressing a key human and/or spiritual need from a Catholic perspective.
Team: Completeness and fit of both the founders and overall team.
Timing, Need, & Market: Factors indicating that now is the moment to work on this mission, such as a deep need to be addressed and a gap in the market.
Early Traction: Early-stage in terms of size, age, and budget and initial traction for the mission demonstrated by outcomes and impact.
Potential for Radical Fruitfulness: Potential for transformative results and a credible vision and plan to get there.
SENT and Mission Capital then jointly discussed the top twenty ministries and invited Jason Deuterman (Executive Director of OSV Institute for Catholic Innovation) to participate as a third judge and provide additional insights on each applicant.
The judges selected ten semifinalists to participate in interviews, and after further discussion, arrived at the five finalists: Corazón Puro, Sent Evangelization Corporation, Guiding Star Project, FORGE, and MetaSaint by ICON Ministry.
A Unique Invitation
The goal for the SENT Mission Showcase is to foster a relationship between one or more of the presenting ministries and you, to help them bring about radical fruitfulness in Christ’s vineyard. We invite you to engage with these ministries, seek out the presenters to learn more, and discern if God may be asking you to be a donor, partner, or collaborator.
